Avery's Story
Avery Elizabeth Black was born into Heaven on July 27, 2017. After arriving at the hospital to be induced at 40 weeks and 3 days, we found out that our precious angel had passed away. This unimaginable and horrific experience is something that we wish no one would ever have to experience but sadly stillbirth, miscarriage, and infant death are more common than one would think. The bereavement department at the hospital where Avery was delivered was so kind and helped make our loss as bearable as they could. The services and items provided during such a terrible time were very comforting as we faced devastation and heartbreak. The hospital's bereavement department was able to provide mementos and a memory box full of items that we have come to cherish as well as support groups for the parents and family of the babies that were lost. They also provided a beautiful gown for burial and for our angel to have professional photos made with the support of Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a national organization in which a professional photographer takes memorial pictures free of charge in these situations. We were lucky enough to have financial support from our family to assist in burial costs but that is often not the case for some families in this horrible situation. We are very passionate about keeping Avery's memory alive and couldn't think of a better way than to raise money in her name to help other families in such a devastating time. The Avery Elizabeth Foundation's purpose is to continually raise money to fund grants and bereavement departments and organizations that support the families of stillbirth, miscarriage, and infant death.
